A FINISH!!!!!!!!!!! July 7, 2008

 

I have finally finished La D Da’s Quaker Alphabet! My goal was to finish it by last Friday, but several pesky frogs came to visit, and I didn’t get it finished until Sunday evening. I ended up having to rip out most of the bottom portion, restitched it, and realized I was still off by one stitch. After I did some checking, I decided the one stitch was not going to cause it to look “off”, called it good, and moved on.

I also made another start this week. I joined a SAL on the LHN/CCN Yuku board. I decided to stitch CCN’s Tea Room on Tuesdays and Thursdays during this July SAL. I am hoping to have it finished by the end of July. I think I got a pretty good start on it considering that I didn’t have much time to work on it either Tuesday or Thursday.

 

 

I am stitching this on 28 ct. Lambswool Jobelan with the recommended DMC threads. I love LHN and CCN designs. They stitch up quick and easy and always look charming.

Trying to decide what I will pull out tonight from my HUGE WIP pile to work on. Mirabilia’s Mermaids from the Deep is calling to me as is Mirabilia’s Halloween Fairy. Looks like it will definately be a Mirabilia design!

I ordered threads today for the Lizzie Kate Christmas Flips, some floss away bags, and some needles. Not extremely fun, but I will look forward to starting the LK flips when I get everything in for them. 

I am trying very hard to resist this…

 

This is Eloquent Christmas by Bygone Stitches. It is in my cart at 123 stitch, and I look at it every day. I can feel myself weakening… I am thinking this would look so cute stitched up and framed for each family in my extended family to be given at Thanksgiving (so they could enjoy it during the holidays, of course ). I don’t know that I would have the patience to stitch it five times (one for myself included)…maybe if I changed the fabric and threads for each design to make each one unique…

I have a feeling this will be winging its way to my house before the week is over. I don’t think I can stand it…

In other news, DH, DS and I went to peruse and price new flooring today. I am so excited about this. I think we have decided on Brazilian Cherry hardwood in our living room, foyer, hallway, and dining room, and either tanned leather or sandstone permastone in our kitchen. We are still debating on which color for the kitchen. I can’t wait to go back and place the order. We could have new floors as soon as next week!

A little more Quaker Alphabet June 29, 2008

I worked on Quaker Alphabet for about two hours today. I would have liked to have worked on it more, but had to get ready for some friends coming over to scrapbook tonight. The upside is, now my house is straightened, and I can stitch a lot tomorrow after church.

Here’s my progress so far….

I would love to have this finished on Monday, but that is probably very ambitious considering that I still have all of the letters to put in and most of the bottom fourth of the design to stitch, but we will see. I am looking forward to being able to put in in the Friday Finishes thread on the 123 message board this week. I think after I finish this, I might work on something patriotic for awhile. I pulled this out of my WIP pile earlier this week…

Isn’t she pretty? This is Betsy by Sheepish Designs. I found her on another blog about a year ago and had to stitch her myself. Somewhere along the way, she got relegated to the bottom of the pile and I haven’t worked on her in awhile. I think this would be a perfect project to work on with Independence Day coming up this week. Here’s a closeup of her…

I am actually excited about picking this one back up. I love the colors and all of the sheep. I bought new DMC for her this week, so I wouldn’t have to dig through everything to find all of the colors that I need. I am finding that I am doing that more and more because it is easier and not really that expensive. I have a coupon for Michael’s for tomorrow from 4:00-8:00 where you can get 25% off of your entire purchase. I may have to go and get the threads I need for a couple of Little House Needleworks and Country Cottage Needleworks designs that I have waiting to be kitted.

Had a really fun night scrapbooking with a couple of good friends. It is nice to be around other women with similiar interests to share laughs, fun, and food with a little scrapbooking thrown in for good measure. We planned out dates for the rest of the summer, so we will have this to look forward to each week for awhile.

 

Starting a blog… June 28, 2008

After reading so many cross-stitching blogs that I enjoy, I have finally decided to start one of my own. I think this is a great way to keep a record of what I am stitching and the details about each piece–an online stitching journal.

Mostly I want this blog to be about the cross stitch and the various projects that I am working on with a little bit of daily life mixed in.

I have several works in progress going right now, but the one that I have been working on the most is Quaker Alphabet by La D Da. I love this design, and it has been so much fun to stitch. I had it in my stash for awhile along with the Belle Soie silks that the chart called for. I dug it out on Wednesday along with a piece of linen to stitch it on. I decided on a piece of 32 count Lakeside Linens Palomino. I love this color.

 

I am hoping to finish it this weekend. We are supposed to get a lot of rain tomorrow. I would love to spend the day in my sitting room, stitching and watching Grey’s Anatomy season 3 on DVD.
